The War On What Is Referred To As Profanity/Foul Language & Sex & Nudity

Alright, let's get right down to it here, folks. Everyone in the world today—or should I say most people in the world today—are all up in arms about what people call profanity or foul language, which to me goes back to the time of George Carlin's seven words you absolutely cannot, no matter what, say on television, which are the following: Shit, Piss, Cunt, Fuck, Cocksucker, Motherfucker, & Tits. Now, nowadays, some of those words are being used on television. We've let a few of them slide. For instance, I've heard the words "shit" and "piss," because let's break this down a little: those are two bodily functions we do on a daily basis, so how are those profane or foul? It's not something you generally want to sit and have a conversation about, but what is so bad about those words? And then there is "fuck." Well, let's think about this: it might sound like a harsh word to say, but in reality, if you soften the language a little, it's another word for lovemaking and how we create life in this world. So, again, it's an act of love in a sense, so what's so bad about this word? Now, we have not heard on national television the two compound words like "cocksucker" and "motherfucker." Those can be quite outright rude in any aspect. As for the word "cunt," yes, it is semi-derogatory. It is technically a body part, which has many other words like vagina, pussy, and many others we will not add here. But again, it's a body part on a female, which yes, is rude to say, but it's not a swear. Same with the word "tits"—it's just another word for breasts, boobs, and an endless list of names. Now, I'm sorry to say this, but there are some people that get offended by some of these words. I try not to use these words unless provoked by someone, and even then, I try to restrain myself from saying them. But in recent months, I was told by an officer of the law that I called a woman who was in a same-sex marriage a cunt, which is not my style. And this officer told me straight to my face that the particular word here in question was qualified as hate speech, which I don't know how that's possible for the simple fact that it is a body part, first of all. And second, hate speech to me is the "N-word"—that's hate speech. Sadly, "cunt" is not hate speech. It's semi-derogatory, but it is not a hateful word. As a male in that case, if I had wanted to, I could have reversed the conversation and told the officer, "Well, the female did call me a dick." But what would that have done? As again, it's not a swear; it's a male body part. The technical term would be penis, but it's the same thing. There are many descriptive words for these said parts or bodily functions. So why are we teaching children of today that these are profanity or foul language when they really aren't at all? They are just harmless words to describe something as an act of something we do or body parts folks have. Now moving on to sex or nudity: another thing that is not as horrible as people make it out to be all around the world. Only in the United States do we make a big deal about this subject. Think about it: we came into the world nude. We did not come out of the birthing canal with a three-piece suit or a dress on, people. We came into the world stark naked. They cleaned you off in the birthing room, wrapped a blanket around you, handed you to mom or dad, said, "Congratulations, it's a boy or a girl" (whichever you came out as), and called it a day. From that point, most parents hurried up to dress you in clothing so no one saw your naughty bits or body, because it was a bad thing to do or see. What people do not realize is that you don't shower with clothing on—otherwise, how do you get clean? When you change out of an outfit, you're nude before you put another outfit on. Or maybe if you're preparing to go to sleep, maybe you sleep in the nude, which there is nothing wrong with. It's a scientific fact that you should let your skin breathe, so sleeping in the nude is not a bad thing; it's a healthy thing. Everyone makes it sound as though if you sleep in the nude, you're a pervert or a degenerate, which is not true. You're a normal human being. Sex even is a natural thing. Again, the world thinks if you watch a movie with sexual activity—whether it's a regular R-rated movie that has sex in a scene or if you watch an adult entertainment film—that again, you're a degenerate. Well, then, if that is the case, regardless of whether you are watching either one of those, if you are a person who watches two animals in nature doing that sort of thing, you are a degenerate technically. And you cannot say, "Well, that's different," because I want to know: how is it different? Is it because it's two animals and not two human beings? Because it is really no different in this writer's eyes. It's just an act of love. No one is forcing anyone to watch it. If you choose not to watch it, it's your choice. If you choose to watch all of that, it's your choice. No one is going to think differently of you for that. Now, if you're watching it obsessively and that's all you want to watch, again, it's qualified as unhealthy, and it is probably because it takes time away from what you might need to be doing, or your mind just operates differently than others. Again, if you think it's bad, it's your opinion, and your opinion means a lot to you and the people you talk with. But it does not mean it's right, nor does it mean it's wrong. It's just sad that the world keeps changing all the time and everyone thinks their opinion is the gospel and is right. To you, yes it is; to some others, not so much. We don't rule the world with an iron fist, sadly, and not everything someone says is right. It might be to that person, but it doesn't mean the world has to follow it. Just think about that today, everyone, and treat people the way you'd want to be treated.

It is simply amazing how music continues to make a comeback in today's era. The simple fact is that music dating as far back as classic blues artists like Robert Johnson still holds deep meaning today. Everyone, at some point, gets the blues—whether from heartbreak, financial loss, losing a job, or experiencing homelessness. Because these human experiences are universal, the blues remains relevant regardless of who is singing it, be it the original artist or a new up-and-coming performer. When new listeners hear a modernized cover of a classic, it often inspires them to go back, discover the original artist, and dive deep into their discography. Once they do, they share it with their friends, who then share it with theirs, creating a continuous cycle of appreciation. You can never go wrong with the classics in today's world. Look at The Beatles, for instance. Their music will never die or become irrelevant because artists keep rediscovering their catalog. Many of us who grew up in the eighties first discovered "With A Little Help From My Friends" through the opening credits of the television show The Wonder Years. We heard Joe Cocker's legendary cover because the show was set during the Woodstock era. If you liked that version, it naturally made you want to dig deeper into his discography and explore the influences that shaped his sound. Today, the younger generation is using these classic songs in their Instagram videos and across social media. Regardless of whether the original artists are still alive, their estates are generating millions, if not billions, of dollars in revenue. This resurgence is a major reason why vinyl records are selling so well again. Many music lovers feel vinyl is the best way to hear the classics, offering that signature warm sound complete with the gentle crackle and pop of the needle on the turntable. While some modern heavy-weight vinyl reissues are nice, constant remastering comes with a downside: eventually, the music starts losing the character of the original recording. This is especially true when remastering live concert albums. Take, for example, the Jimi Hendrix Experience release, *Live At Berkeley First Show May 30, 1970*. It is a fabulous performance by Hendrix, but if you listen to older pressings of that same show, the audience ambiance is mixed much better. When you listen to a classic live performance, you want to feel like you were actually in the venue. As sound engineers keep remastering these classic studio and live albums, the music can start to sound less like the original artist. You risk stripping away the natural nuances that were put down during the original session. Consider Hendrix’s *Electric Ladyland*, which was remastered for its 50th anniversary in 2018. The Super Deluxe version is great for bonus material, and if you listen through a high-quality headset, you can hear every detail—every string plucked by Hendrix sounds clearer than ever, making you feel as though you are in the studio with him. However, if an album like that is remastered again, what else can really be done that wasn't already accomplished nearly a decade ago? Beyond a certain point, there is no noticeable audio improvement to be made. Unfortunately, artificial intelligence is now entering the picture and altering the landscape. AI is complicating things by making audio sound unnaturally perfect or by creating material that never existed in the first place. Consider an artist like Billy Joel, a master performer often called "the man of a thousand voices." In concert, Billy sometimes covers classic rock tracks, like Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years." If you search YouTube today, you can find what sounds like a full, polished studio version of Billy Joel singing that song—generated entirely by AI. We did not need an AI-generated version, yet listeners will assume it is authentic because the vocals sound identical to him. This raises serious questions about how technology is being used. Creating non-existent tracks does a disservice to artists and public figures. While it is nice to honor and remember the legendary artists we love, technology is making it increasingly difficult to separate real recordings from digital fabrications. This issue is particularly concerning for artists who have passed away. Because the public does not know everything hidden inside legendary music vaults, an AI track can easily be passed off as a newly discovered, unreleased gem from Hendrix, Elvis, or another icon. Without having been in the studio ourselves, we are left relying on media reports to tell us if a track is genuine. It is certainly a lot of food for thought regarding the current state of the music industry. To end on a broader note: remember to treat others as fairly as you wish to be treated yourself. If you treat people poorly, you cannot expect kindness in return—that is simply not how the world works.

It's funny how we always hear "help Our Fellow People and yet I haven't really seen many people help us out besides the ones you see on the page itself. The Jimi Hendrix Experience "Magic Boy" Live At Berkeley: The First Show Is Purely Magical & Brings You There

It is finally here, folks: the official version of Live At Berkeley: May 30, 1970 – First Show. While unofficial bootlegs of both the first and second shows have circulated over the years with adequate sound quality, this officially remastered release by Eddie Kramer and Bernie Grundman makes you feel like you are sitting front row center. The energy captured in this performance is simply amazing. As was typical for Jimi, no two performances were ever identical. He preferred to keep things fresh on stage each night so he would never tire of the setlist. He delivered high-energy shows that consistently left audiences wanting more. By late May 1970, Jimi was putting the finishing touches on his own Electric Lady Studios in New York. Even during construction, he was actively recording new material in the studio—a facility that would go on to host a multitude of legendary artists. Because he was building the studio to his exact specifications, Jimi restricted his touring primarily to weekends. He wanted to personally test out the acoustic space and see how it handled recording. Plus, as we all know, Jimi loved nothing more than jamming in the studio with fellow musicians. This Berkeley performance has finally gotten its well-deserved day in the sun. It features a great mix of classic tunes everyone knows and loves from both The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys, alongside new material he was actively developing in the studio and testing in front of live audiences. This concert captured the final line-up of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, featuring Jimi Hendrix on guitar and vocals, Mitch Mitchell on drums, and Billy Cox on bass. While this rhythm section may not have logged as much road time as the original Experience line-up with Noel Redding, it was arguably the most dynamic. The chemistry among the trio was undeniable, always locked in the pocket and seamlessly playing off one another. The concert itself is phenomenal. While we won't spoil the second show—which has yet to receive an official standalone release—this first set drew a passionate crowd. Given Jimi's reduced touring schedule at the time, anticipation among fans was exceptionally high. The Berkeley Community Theatre was a smaller, more intimate venue than usual, holding roughly 3,500 seats across two sets, which meant many fans were left without tickets. Outside, ticketless fans clashed with police, threw stones, and even tried climbing onto the roof to gain entry. Inside, completely oblivious to the chaos taking place outdoors, Jimi and the band entered through a rear stage entrance, ready to perform. The Experience delivered a powerhouse set. They turned in magnificent renditions of classics like "Fire," "Red House," "Purple Haze," "Machine Gun," and "Message to Love," alongside newer tracks such as "Hear My Train A Comin'," "Ezy Rider," and "Freedom." As always, listeners were treated to a unique interpretation of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Jimi never played the national anthem the same way twice, feeding directly off the collective energy of the crowd. Two additional standouts in this set deserve special mention: the fierce closer "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and the celebrated live rendition of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode." Jimi absolutely shreds on that track, pouring everything into his guitar work in a performance that would make Chuck proud. Be sure to pick up this release and add it to your collection. It is a phenomenal, high-octane performance that has deserved an official release for a very long time. The War On Being Homeless

As of September 15th of this year, we became homeless due to a landlord driven by corporate greed who simply can’t get enough money in her purse. Mui Tran of Quincy, Massachusetts, thinks a 550-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment unit is worth $1,500 a month. But wait until you hear what comes with the apartment for amenities: heat and hot water. That’s it. You still have to pay electric, which in Holyoke, Massachusetts, isn't high at all. An average month of electric from Holyoke Gas & Electric will run you no higher than $75 in the summer while running an air conditioner, and in the winter your bill will be no higher than $45. So that’s not bad. However, it’s what the apartment unit actually consists of on the inside that is the real problem: contaminated drinking water; a bathroom where, in order to use the toilet, you need to bring an umbrella because of the rain leaking from the pipes above you in the upper unit; and a shower that consists of either boiling hot water or freezing ice-cold water, bouncing back and forth every thirty seconds. Plan to be either scalded or frozen, with nothing in between. And let’s not forget the cockroaches, which are completely out of control. Mui Tran doesn't believe in routine pest control services. Or shall I say, she calls them maybe once a year, but doesn't alert you when they are coming. If you're home, great—they can come in and possibly do something. But in reality, they don't do much. The pest control agent doesn't even carry the proper gear for roaches; they just put out gel baits to keep them away, and for rodents, either sticky boards or poison bait. The pest control company doesn't even do their job properly across the building. There are sixteen units, and they don't knock on all the doors on each floor—they just go to a few random units. You might be lucky to get the service, or you may not. Now, Mui Tran kicked out this writer and his wife. We admit we did owe some rent, but we withheld payment because Mui Tran was not doing repairs in our unit at all and expected us to pay for the repairs on top of rent. Doesn't rent money go toward the upkeep of the property and units? We also had an agreement that we would use RAFT rental assistance to pay the back rent, which she initially agreed to. She submitted her required documentation, and we submitted ours. Yet, she got an execution order from a judge to evict us after agreeing to take the rental assistance, declaring at the last minute that she wasn't going to accept it. She would have had her money in full, and everything would have been fine. Instead, she had a sheriff come to remove us. We were promised a moving company would remove our belongings and put them in storage. On the day of September 15th, a sheriff and police officers were there, but there was no moving truck. The sheriff informed us there would be no moving truck either. Everything left in the apartment—which included a lot of my personal belongings—now belonged to the landlord, and she was throwing all of it out. There was nothing we could do about it. She even tried to keep my insulin for my diabetes and the sheriff said I could not take it with me luckly my wife did take it anyways and told the sheriff to F*** off. My sister-in-law has been kind enough to put us up in a motel in West Springfield, but that time is running out in a few days. Then we have to find a cheaper, independently owned motel where the owner or manager will hopefully give us a affordable monthly rate while we straighten everything out. We fully intend to sue the landlord due to the hazardous conditions we lived in, including contaminated drinking water and bio-hazardous materials leaking down on us from the bathroom ceiling, forcing us to use an umbrella just to sit on the toilet, which is absolutely disgusting. We are seeking some relief funds through GoFundMe to maintain our stay in a motel until we can secure a better living situation. We have raised some money already, and we thank everyone who has donated what they can—it is greatly appreciated. On Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, the Sheriff's Department along with the local Holyoke Police Department arrived at 9:45 a.m. at 948 Dwight Street while my wife and I were trying to get out the last of our smaller items to take with us to where we are currently staying until this Tuesday, September 22nd. I was outside on the sidewalk—as we lived on the first floor—handing items to my friend who was helping us, when the sheriff approached me before the move-out time was officially set to start. He got in my personal space, right in my face, and then proceeded to yell and scream profanities at me that I will not repeat. He basically said to me: come 10 a.m. you're both done, you will not remove any more items, and the rest will belong to the landlord. Now mind you, the notification we received—which was not even a full thirty days ahead of this disaster like it should have been—specifically stated that at 10 a.m. the official move-out would begin, and that there would be a licensed and bonded moving company to help take out the rest of our items. That included a stove, refrigerator, a bed, a desk, a table with a cabinet attached to it, and a drawer set for silverware and similar items. Mui Tran is using Thomas J. Scannell as a housing lawyer to evict her tenants at 948 Dwight Street in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Mr. Scannell is a commercial corporate lawyer who basically dabbles a little in housing, but does not know the rights of tenants in an eviction case whatsoever. For instance, Mui Tran has repeatedly played mind games with her tenants—especially myself—by saying one moment that she wants me to apply for rental assistance to keep my tenancy at the property, and then doing the opposite the next. Submitting all the proper documentation for rental assistance takes about forty-five minutes to apply online, providing you have all your documents scanned and ready to upload at the end of the application. Mui Tran has uploaded all her documentation as well, and it takes basically the same amount of time to do her portion of the application as it does mine. The only way she can refuse the funds from the program is if she figures out how to reverse it. We won't tell her how, as she is clearly too inept to figure that out on her own, which is why I do not understand her logic at this point. Now Mui Tran has hired this high-paying corporate commercial lawyer who charges about six hundred dollars an hour. Here is where you are probably thinking, "Okay, so he is charging this kind of money, but here is the odd thing." Mui Tran complains to all of her tenants that she cannot pay her basic property tax, water and sewer tax, insurance on the building, electricity for the common hallway areas, gas, and the mortgage on the property. So here is the main question, folks: if she is having a hard time paying all of those basic expenses, how is she paying this lawyer? Here is how she is doing that: the lawyer and Mui Tran have a special relationship. What I mean by that is when they show up for court appearances, Thomas comes in with Mui and puts his arm around her waist like a boyfriend would do. This is not professional at all. I asked to speak to him at one point outside of the courtroom about the eviction situation I am dealing with. He said it was fine, but when I mentioned what I wanted and told him it was a reasonable request, he shut down, refused, and literally lunged at me. Now, I should mention that I am legally blind—completely blind in my right eye, with only thirty-five percent vision remaining in my left eye. This was again very unprofessional for Mr. Scannell. Considering he works for a high-powered law firm that allows this sort of behavior to go on with the clients they represent, my question to them and Mr. Scannell is this: is this what they teach in law school? If the client cannot pay, do they pay in another way like Mui Tran is doing? She is obviously paying with multiple favors, as they seem pretty romantically inclined with each other. Not to mention, Mr. Scannell treats Mui like a pet when they walk out of the courtroom together after trials, saying, "Good girl, you did exactly what I said to do." He is still rockin' on with his latest release, "The Rock & Roll Philosopher", a companion compilation piece to go along with his book that he released last year with the same title featuring bluesy, gritty rock tunes sprinkled with phenomenal guitar virtuosos—including Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Mark Knopfler, and Sonny Landreth. Of course, there are some great re-recorded classics, including "Runaround Sue," "Ruby Baby," and "The Wanderer." However, the best re-recorded classic is Dion's poetic "Abraham, Martin and John": a critically acclaimed tribute to three great men who gave us the rights and freedom we know today. It is a stripped-down, melodic version of the true classic Dion made big in 1968. It stands the test of time today, allowing you to learn a little bit of history set to music. "King of the New York Streets" is a live recording from his return to the rock and blues world, *Yo Frankie*, which was originally released in 1989. I’ll admit, this live version has a little more grit and bite versus the original studio version. The album kicks off with a kick-ass blues-rock tune entitled "I Am Your Gangster of Love," which keeps your foot tapping and sticks in your mind for hours and days to come. "New York Minute" brings you back to a simpler time and the roots of where it all started for Dion. I would consider it semi-biographical; if you know your history about this pioneer of rock and roll, you know he's from New York—the Bronx, to be exact. Let’s face it, you can never write enough songs about where you’re from. That’s how you know which artists really mean it when talking about home: do you really miss it, or is it just to save face with your audience? New York is definitely something special. If you’ve never been there, you can’t say much just because you saw something on television; it’s an experience you cannot forget once you’ve gone there. "If You Want to Rock & Roll" features two legends: Dion on vocals and a master of his craft, Eric Clapton, on guitar. As a guitarist still rockin' as he gets on in age, it seems as though Clapton just keeps getting better and better at what he does. As stated at the beginning of this article, this album has a little something for everyone. For those who have never heard the classics like "Runaround Sue" or "Abraham, Martin and John," they will feel fresh and new. For those of us who have heard them all these years since they were recorded originally, these re-recordings prove that the sixties never really left us. Sixty years on, Dion sounds the same as he did when he recorded those songs all those years ago. This compilation has the perfect balance and mix of Dion’s career. You get to hear a great sample of all he’s done in the last sixty-nine years, and his voice has never changed. It’s truly amazing what he’s still doing now, including working on a Broadway show and making a documentary. There is a saying that "Rock & Roll keeps you young and viable." There has to be some truth in that, and the proof is Dion DiMucci himself—still rockin' through several decades with so much still to create and tell. Keep the blues and rock and roll coming; as long as you’re out there doing what you do, everyone will keep coming to see you do it. This album gets 5 out of 5 stars across the board.
