Talking Hendrix News For the Week of October 4, 2019

What's coming up this week..... This week we have two guests our first being a singer/songwriter/author/activist/philanthropist country artist Chely Wright who will be coming through the Western Massachusetts area on Thursday October 10th to the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton. Chely is celebrating 25 years in the country music business, and recently released an new e.p. entitled "Revival" and currently has her new single out there from it called "Say The Word" which is doing well from our understanding in streams and youtube views. We'll talk with Chely about her music career, her touring schedule, songwriting along with the charities she supports and started "reading, Writing and Rythm" which helps schools provide equipment and musical instruments for schools and she has a fund raising drive each year in June right before the CMA Music Festival that takes place in Nashville. Chely also founded another charity that I would assume is near, dear and close to her heart called the "Like Me Organization" founded by her in 2010 she gathered friends, family, fans and supporters of the LGBTQ community to help build an organization that would help provide assistance, resources and education to LGBTQ individuals and their family and friends . Chely is the spokesperson for the Like Me Organization which will work to prevent LGBTQ bullying and teen suicides. For more information and touring schedule on Chely Wright please go to her website below: www.chely.com Our Second guest is singer/songwriter/musician/tech advocate Alan Chapel information on Alan below is courtesy of his publicist Kenjamin Franklin: PROMINENT TECH WORLD ADVOCATE COMPOSED COMPELLING NEW SONG "I AM ZUCK" . . A 'CONFESSION' OF FACEBOOK'S ZUCKERBERG https://soundcloud.com/thisischapell/05-i-am-zuck-by-chapell Growing up on the mean streets of Stamford, Connecticut, Alan Chapell was something of a musical wunderkind – playing piano and trumpet before the age of six. He recorded with the legendary producer Jimmy Ienner (Dirty Dancing, KiSS, etc) at age 15, and more recently with Talking Head Jerry Harrison. He's played to jam-packed houses around the world from Mumbai to Managua. It took Chapell a while to get to this point, but audiences across the U.S. are starting to take notice in a big way. What's perhaps most interesting about Alan is that, along with his musical success, he's carved out a niche advising tech companies on privacy issues. When the producers of HBO's Silicon Valley consider creating a character to lampoon your role in the tech space, you know you've made it. Alan's band CHAPELL is now drawing comparisons to Roger McNamee's Moonalice as each have one foot firmly planted in both the tech and music worlds – and each are vocal critics of the privacy practices of Facebook. CHAPELL's newest LP, Penultimate is is the closest he's come to bridging his innate musicality with the perspective gained wading neck deep through the rise and fall of the Internet age. Chapell's music evokes the naïve optimism of the early Internet age and juxtaposes that with the more current reality as we approach constant surveillance. "Ride," the first song on Penultimate, somehow manages to be both optimistic and dark – asking "if you're hanging on just long enough to watch it all burn down." https://soundcloud.com/thisischapell/01-ride-by-chapell Similarly, in "I am Zuck" Chapell parodies the never-gonna-happen confession of Mark Zuckerberg – at times using Zuck's own words to take him down. And if you've paid any attention at all to what's currently taking place in the tiny Central American country of Nicaragua, you'll find "Sandinista" to be nothing short of chilling. Some highlights: •Chapell's Penultimate is currently being played on over 150 radio stations in the U.S. •Chapell will be playing Sony Hall in NYC supporting Everclear on Sunday October 6. •Chapell has recently shared the stage with a variety of rock icons, including: Bighead Todd, Gin Blossoms, Jackopeirce, Little River Band, Tim Reynolds and Edgar Winter. •Chapell is currently touring the Northeastern United States, playing mostly rooms of 400-800 capacity. •Chapell is averaging over 50K monthly listening on Spotify. On making music in 2019 Chapell now says, "I feel like I'm discovering myself as an artist in a way I never could have earlier in my life. For too long, I bought into the notion that I couldn't become a successful artist in my 30's – and it was liberating to recognize how foolish that was. The most invigorating thing is that I don't feel I've written my best song yet. I know who I am now and I am excited that I am nowhere close to my peak." So don't forget to join us this friday night from 10-11:30 p.m. eastern time on www.bostonfreeradio.com For these great guests plus some good time music as well it's promised to be a fun time for all. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upcoming Concert Dates and News.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday October 1st Collective Soul Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Wednesday October 2nd Andy Grammer Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Thursday October 3rd Loudon Wainwright III Natick Performing Arts Center Natick, MA www.natickarts.org Friday October 4th Graham Nash Academy Of Music Northampton, MA www.aomtheatre.com Friday October 4th Tom Rush Natick Performing Arts Center Natick, MA www.natickarts.org Saturday October 5th Tom Rush Natick Performing Arts Center Natick, MA www.natickarts.org Tuesday October 8th It Was 50 Years Ago Today A Tribute To The Beatles White Album Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Thursday October 10th Chely Wright Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Thursday October 10th Justin Hayward Of The Moody Blues Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Friday October 11th Cowboy Junkies Natick Performing Arts Center Natick , MA www.natickarts.org Saturday October 12th Hollywood Nights: The Bob Seger Experience Calvin Theater Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Saturday October 12th America Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Saturday October 12th Luther 'Guitar Junior' Johnson & The Magic Rockers Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Sunday October 13th Queenmachine:Tribute To Queen 3 & 7 p.m. The Kate Old Saybrooke, CT www.katharinehepburntheater.org Sunday October 13th Peter Newland of FAT & Norm Schell of Clean Living Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Monday October 14th Sugarmountain:Tribute To Neil Young Milford Performance Center Milford, CT https://milfordperformancecenter.org/ Tuesday October 15th Tiffany The Kate Old Saybrooke, CT www.katharinehepburntheater.org Thursday October 17th Air Supply Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Friday October 18th The Adam Ezra Group Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Friday October 18th It Was 50 Years Ago Today Tour 2019:A Tribute to The Beatles’ White Album featuring Christopher Cross, Todd Rundgren, Micky Dolenz, Jason Scheff and Joey Molland The Garde Art Center New London, CT www.gardearts.org Friday October 18th The Tom Petty Project Milford Performance Center Milford, CT https://milfordperformancecenter.org Saturday October 19th Jonah Tolchin The Town And The City Festival Lowell, MA Saturday October 19th Sons Of Skynyrd: Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Bijou Theatre Bridgeport, CT www.bijoutheatrect.com Wednesday October 23rd The Flamin' Groovies Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Wednesday October 23rd Jonah Tolchin Club Passim Cambridge, Ma Thursday October 24th Gordon Lightfoot Ridgefield Playhouse Ridgefield, CT https://tickets-center.com Friday October 25th Jonah Tolchin The Parlor Room Northampton, MA Friday October 25th Ticket To Ride: Beatles Tribute The Kate Old Saybrooke, CT www.katharinehepburntheater.org Sunday October 27th Felix Cavaliere's Rascals 3& 7 p.m. The Kate Old Saybrooke, CT www.katharinehepburntheater.org Friday November 1st The Smithereens with Marshall Crenshaw Natick Performing Arts Center Natick, MA www.natickarts.org Saturday November 2nd Good Acoustics: Tribute To Simon & Garfunkel/James Taylor Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA www.iheg.com Saturday November 2nd Anyway You Want It: Journey Tribute Bijou Theatre Bridgeport, CT www.bijoutheatrect.com Saturday November 2nd Damn The Torpedoes: Tribute To Tom Petty The Kate Old Saybrooke. Michael Cramer's "Don't Let Me Down" Is A Hit

Michael Cramer's "Don't Let Me Down" not to be confused as a cover of the Beatles song from the Let It Be album has quite the interesting sound for the single, infact musically it could have been the next Doors single for an album of theirs as it sounds like it was penned with Jim Morrison in mind, Cramer even sounds a little like Morrison on the vocals, interesting part of the song is the chorus which has a little lighter beat and vocally could fit into something Crosby, STills, Nash and Young could sing on harmony wise. The song clocks in at three minutes and forty-three seconds perfect for the radio and should get some serious airplay, feel free to check out the song on youtube the link is below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHuM_m7Aric

Emily Miller's Debut Single "Avaline" Says She's Arrived & She's Here To Stay

Emily Miller a multi-talented singer/songwriter in the genres of country, bluegrass, and gospel...haling from West Chester, Ohio hits it out of the park with her debut single "Avaline", with a mix of all the genres mentioned in here. Avaline is a girl with a perfect life description to every girl growing up, she has the perfect teeth, smile and life and sings in the church choir weekly which is where the gospel part of the genre fits in here with a melodic country pedal stele guitar to give it the country flavor and the banjo to give it just a little bluegrass twang and finally a guitar solo that sounds like it was inspired from hearing some classic Sheryl Crow tunes to make this a perfect country radio friendly single. Emily Miller has arrived on the country scene and with a single like "Avaline", I think we're just getting on board for a long ride ahead, so get seatbelted in for a long journey ride for the music she'll be putting out, as this is just a taste of what she's capable of doing i'm sure.

In Memory Of James Marshall Hendrix 11-27-1948 - 9-18-1970

It is truely amazing what a legacy of music this man left behind for us to hear plus all the music that has come out more recently for us to hear since he's past away. Who'd thought that 49 years later we'd be still hearing new music from this iconic guitar legend that really only had a short career span of 4 years. Jimi did things on the guitar to this day that most people can't figure out how he did some of those things....we'll take for instance the star spangled banner performed at woodstock, this is a piece that still blows peoples minds to this day as everytime you hear it you hear something new you didn't hear the previous time, there are some things you can pick upp right away in this version like the sound of sirens and bombs going off, those are just two things you'll hear during the listening of this song, everybody's inturpretation of what they hear is different to what I hear, but the amazing thing is how Jimi got the guitar to do these things....infact I think if Jimi was still alive he might not know how he did those thing either, as we all know his live performances were just absolutely stunning as you never knew what he was going to play and what he was going to do. Jimi Hendrix set what this writer thinks as of a high bar for guitar players coming up to meet, even Jimi's peers were astonished at what he could do on the guitar how he could make it talk basically, and of course we all know this was the way he expressed himself, which is what most artists do with their music they express their feelings and emotions at that particular time and so a live performance from your favorit performer could be extremely high and intense sounding, or a low energy setting. At the end of the day Jimi had some amazing iconic performances that will never be forgotten first being Monterey Pop Festival not only did he sacrifice his guitar at the end of the set but the energy and showmanship he did in that performance again was just astonishing to what was coming down the line from him. Woodstock would be an iconic performance due to the Star Spangled Banner the crowd loved, but the media wasn't so enthused with as they thought he had made a mockery and butchered the song, when in reality he was paying tribute to our veterans who were in the Vietnam war, which was a very high respectable thing to have done at the time. Who knew that one year and a month after that iconic performance he would be gone. We often wonder what do you think jimi would be doing now if he were alive???? no one really knows as from this writer's perspective i personally think jimi lived for the moment and at anytime he would do whatever he wanted to do and nothing was going to stop him, the only thing is that he did need a little guidance or direction for which way to go if anything. We have gotten so much music from this man that had a short career of four years but recorded a lot of music in that short time, he built his own studio which he barely even got to record in, but is still open for artists to record in, if the structure of the building could only talk the stories in that short time he spent in there it could tell i'm sure. As always he is sadly missed in the music world but saying all of that his musical legacy lives on for us to hear and for new listeners to discover. please come and tune in friday night to Talking Hendrix when we will have a special show with some music and we'll also talk with Jimy bleu member of the tribute band kiss The Sky, Jimy portrays hendrix and has all the swag, moves and stylings of hendrix to a precision like you'll never believe, once you see the show bleu and the KTS band does you'll walk out of the venue actually thinking you've just seen Hendrix himself this is not a smoke screen of lights and smoke this is the real deal. jimy bleu actually met hendrix multiple times being a memebr of the Jimi hendrix fanclub, you'll hear all sorts of interesting stories about jimi and the people that were around him and worked with him and more. So tune in this friday night September 20th at 10 p.m. eastern standard time to hear this show you won't want to miss it and the link to the website for boston free radio is; www.bostonfreeradio.com Kiss The Sky Official Website: www.KISSTHESKYTRIBUTE.com

Jimmy Bowen has been creating music for more than three decades and, thankfully, has even bigger plans for the future. His new single, “Blood Red Moon,” was co-written written by Sonny LeMaire, Liz Hengber and Tommy Lee James. The new music is available for streaming and download on all online digital platforms here. “My co-writers, Liz Hengber, Tommy Lee James and I were discussing what to write and someone mentioned that in the next few days the Nashville night sky would be filled with a blood red moon! Boom! There was our title and we and we had a blast writing a, sort of, southern gothic tale of cheating and revenge,” stated songwriter and producer, Sonny LeMaire! “"Blood Red Moon" is a great song. I chose the song because of the story line. It is a song about love gone bad and revenge,” said Jimmy Bowen. “The lyrics leave the mind to some imagination of the why's and where's. "Blood Red Moon" is totally different than any song ever recorded and I love the challenge of singing the song with conviction and confidence.” “It takes teamwork to create a masterpiece and everyone did their part to make "Blood Red Moon" something special! The band tracks on "Blood Red Moon" were recorded at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville on a custom “hot-rodded" Neve VRP 96 input console with engineer Ryan Yount at the helm. The DAWg Houze, Nashville North served as overdubbing headquarters, adding Glen Duncan’s fiddle tracks, Steve Hinson’s dobro and lap steel parts, Sonny LeMaire backing vocals, Jimmy’s lead vocal tracks and final mixdown using a hybrid tracking/mixing technique on a Soundcraft Vi3000 digital mixing console and Pro Tools via Dante in/out of Vi3k,” shares Co-Producer/Engineering,Tony Cottrill. “The microphone selection both at OCW and The DAWg Houze consisted of a combination of Heil and AKG dynamics and condensers. The talent of the Nashville sessions players on this cut, besides Glen and Steve included Michael Spriggs on acoustic guitars, Jimmy Nichols playing Wurlitzer and Hammond B3 organ, Erik Halbig adding electric guitars, Steve Brewster playing drums and Sonny LeMaire on bass guitar. The final Mastering touches were completed by Benny Quinn.” The song is structured to so the performance can be done in any manner and there are many options to get the story line and the point across to the audience. This project left a wide open imagination for the cover artwork. Using lines from the song and creating the image at a motel to reflect the gothic feel and as the evening got darker the listener feels as though they were somehow immersed in the song itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CMT.com Features “Love Is Stronger,” Official Video in Support of Current Single by Country Music Artist and Songwriter, Matt Kennon NASHVILLE, TENN. - (September 11, 2019) – CMT.com featured Matt Kennon’s emotional video about keeping hope alive in the powerful music video for his song "Love Is Stronger." Matt Kennon knows the power of a great song. It can stir your emotions, move you to tears, motivate you to action, and in some cases even save your life, as Matt has seen firsthand in his career with songs like “The Call,” “You Had To Pick On Me,” and even his latest song, “Wasn’t It Enough.” For him, music is about the message, and time and again he’s written thought-provoking and heart-tugging songs that have racked up impressive chart numbers and even more impressive sales: throughout the course of his career he’s already sold 300,000 singles and 30,000 albums. The Atlanta native is inspired by and writes about things close to his heart, and often finds himself writing songs with emotional messages. His songs have definitely hit home with many struggling with issues like suicide, post-traumatic stress, and bullying. The Atlanta native devoted the last two-plus years to a special anti-bullying campaign he developed and took to 83 schools in seven states. Through partnering with several sports foundations around the country, including Alabama coach Nick Saban’s charity, Nick’s Kids, Matt was able to reach 150,000 students with a powerful anti-bullying message. The campaign was just one example of how apt Kennon is at dialing in to the emotions fans are experiencing, and for proof of that connection, one need not look any further than the iTunes chart, where Matt has been a Featured Artist for the last five years with each of his independent releases. His explosive live shows no doubt fuel those sales as well, as Kennon is a powerful live performer with thousands of shows under his belt on stages across the country. Throughout the course of his career he’s shared the stage with high profile artists including, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, and Train, Darius Rucker, Uncle Kracker, Lee Brice, and The Band Perry, among others.Powerful social media interaction has moved the needle for Kennon. The video for “The Call” recently reached an amazing seventeen million accumulated views. A successful songwriter in his own right, with outside cuts by artists such as Randy Travis, (who recorded his song “Turn It Around,”) and many others. The soulful singer also writes with many of Nashville’s top writers regularly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tim Rushlow Signs with The Kinkead Entertainment Agency for Worldwide Booking NASHVILLE, Tenn. Known for his high-energy performances and his ability to captivate every audience, Rushlow is first and foremost an entertainer. He first achieved multi-platinum success in the '90s as the powerhouse lead vocalist of country supergroup Little Texas, with chart-toppers such as “God Blessed Texas,” “What Might Have Been” and “Amy’s Back In Austin.” Rushlow is a three-time Grammy nominee, CMA and ACM Award winner. “TKEA is proud to be the exclusive agents for Tim Rushlow, and welcome him, and his team to our booking/talent agency. Tim is a true artist in the sense that he has reinvented his brand over the course of his career several times and has left a mark in the entertainment industry,” stated Bob Kinkead, CEO. “A lead singer of one of the most successful bands to break in the country music business in the early 90s, to a singer-songwriter with his one man show, to the high energy of his big band show and PBS special. I have seen the fire, passion and drive in his eyes that will take his career to a whole new level, and I am excited to be part of his career and opportunities that we will create together.” “After not touring for over twelve years in the country space, I am honored to make a return to the country music scene for representation with Bob and his staff at Kincaid Entertainment Agency, who share my passion to do this,” stated Tim Rushlow. “I am humbled by new and old listeners alike that have continually asked for me to tour again. I look forward to bringing my songs from the 90's soundtrack back to life again along with my first new music in a decade as well.” With the recent strong resurgence in ‘90s Country and increased demand from his fans, Tim is once again focusing his energy into the music that first brought him to a global audience. He has recently written and recorded a collection of all new songs which will be a launch pad for the next phase of his career and he is very excited to be performing his unique brand of Country music – including his arsenal of hits from the soundtrack of the ‘90s and never-before-heard new music – for fans everywhere. Background History About Tim Rushlow........ Tim Rushlow has already achieved so much more than most aspiring musician’s dream of accomplishing. Born in Oklahoma and raised in Arlington, Texas, Rushlow catapulted to fame as lead singer for Little Texas, one of the biggest Country groups of the 90’s. Between 1991 and 1998, the group charted 20 singles on Billboard’s Country chart, including the Number 1 hit “God Blessed Texas,” the poignant power ballad and crossover smash, “What Might Have Been,” “Amy’s Back In Austin” and many others. When the group originally disbanded, Rushlow embarked on a successful solo career shifting from Warner Bros. Records, with Jim Ed Norman, to Atlantic Records. Tim scored chart-topping hits including his emotionally moving song “She Misses Him”, which became a Top 5 record hit and gaining Tim the opportunity to be a national spokesman for the Alzheimer’s Association for two years. Tim went on to have two more record deals with Lyric Street Records and Universal Records before taking a break from recording to focus on his ability as an entertainer on tour in his critically acclaimed unplugged solo show, “One Man, One Guitar, One Night”, which has taken him from theatre and cabaret stages to traveling around the world many times over performing for our men and women in the military. Tim has an immense amount of drive and passion. When he hears the word “No,” he simply believes it means, “Not yet.” So in 2014, without reservation, Tim dove in headfirst to embark on his lifelong dream to record a Big Band Christmas record. The album, Tim Rushlow Classic Christmas, was recorded in Nashville using an all-star band and the top players from the Nashville Symphony. It was received with rave reviews, shooting the Rushlow penned radio single “What Do I Do With The Blue” to #16 on the Billboard singles chart and the album #16 on the Billboard Holiday Album chart where he settled in right behind Frank Sinatra, making another lifelong dream come true with his name being next to such an adored American icon. Never being one to sit still, Tim felt the need to show his admiration and authenticity for this music and began planning his next gutsy and risky move. Tim decided to record a full Big Band live concert record and TV special in front of his peers in Nashville. After seeing the magical footage, it was decided to take it to American Public Television. APT was blown away at Tim’s ability to be so genuine and sing to their current demographic, yet be youthful enough to sing to a new and younger generation. Tim Rushlow & His Big Band LIVE showcases Tim’s dynamic “Rat Pack” swagger with classics from the Great American Songbook. It was a national pledge drive for PBS from 2016-2018 and released as a live DVD and CD/DVD combo. Tim’s Big Band shows have won critical acclaim and have been well-received by audiences across the country. With the recent strong resurgence of ‘90s Country and increased demand from his fans, Tim is once again focusing his energy into the music that first brought him to a global audience. He has recently written and recorded a collection of all new songs which will be a launch pad for the next phase of his career and he is very excited to be performing his unique brand of Country music – including his arsenal of hits from the soundtrack of the ‘90s and never-before-heard new music – for fans everywhere. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guests Coming Soon: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brooks Forsyth Franke Previte Burleigh Drummond (drummer for Ambrosia) Darrell Curly Jones Jimy Bleu of Kiss The Sky --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Mission Statement... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talking Hendrix is a journey through Jimi Hendrix's music catalog common and rare pieces of his musical diversity, along with interviews with artists who've played, worked or were inspired by Jimi's expertise styling of guitar playing. The band broke up in 1982 but would reunite seven years later to start touring again and recording music. Ambrosia score multiple top forty hits with such hits like "Biggest Part Of Me" "How Much I Feel , "you're The Only Woman", "Nice Nice Very Nice", "Holdin' On To Yesterday", "Magical Mystery Tour", which was the lead off track in the film "All This And World War II". The group has had songs in multiple movies such as "Arthur" starring Dudley Moore, and most recently "Knocked Up". The current touring line-up of the band features three out of four original members of the 1970-1982 band thatt scored those hits starting with Joe Puerta onbass, backing and lead vocals, guitar, Christopher North on keyboards, and Burleigh Drummond on drums, backing vocals, percussion, and bassoon, and other members in the band include Doug Jackson on guitars and backing vocals joined the group in 2000, Ken Stacey on Lead, backing vocals, percussion and guitar member since 2005, and Mary Harris on keyboards and backing vocals since 2012. Recently we spoke with Burleigh Drummond and he gave us a brief history of the band "our first two albums were kind of in the proggish nature, we were kind of America's answer to the groups "Yes" and "king Crimson" and groups like that the we went off and had some pop hits which is where the story gets a little interesting. When we got started we had saw this new upcoming band called King Crimson and that changed our whole direction completely, we started writing things like "nice, nice, very nice" and collaborating with people like Kurt Vonnegut Jr.. we were melodically sounding with outrageous arrangements, but at night while we were recording those first albums we were playing this female lesbian bar where the only wanted r&b and dance music, so we played that every night and it crept into our psychie because you kind of become what you play, and so all of a sudden we started writing songs like "Dancing By Myself", "How Much I Feel" "Biggest Part Of Me", "Living On My Own" more r&bish sounding material so that's how all of that evolved, but we got a few hit records out of it and used that to our advantage. It was quite fun recording Magical Mystery Tour the head of our label at the time Russ Regan who also discovered Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Olivia Newton John, he had this idea for a movie it's hard to find, but anyone who's seen it and I think i've met two people besides myself that have seen it, but anyways it's called "All This and World War II", and the whole movie was Beatle music no dialogue set to World War II film footage and so we had the opening track to the film it's hard to say what the intentions for the film was, but anyways the soundtrack had an amazing amount of hits and great artists like Rod Stewart, Leo Sayer, Elton John, The Bee Gees, Peter Gabriel, all doing Beatle covers it was just amazing if you can find that album I garuntee you it will be a collector's item, it's a mystery sadly what the concept behind the movie was setting Beatles music to the footage, as sadly Russ recently past away so I never got to ask him about that, all I can think of is maybe he thought the music was somehow related to the footage for instance "Fool On The Hill" he had pictures of Hitler up in his castle so some of it was relevant I guess, it was mainly shown in art theaters and had a limited run so not sure how well the public recieved the film, but it was interesting and definitely a rarity to see or even find. Somebody owns the publishing to our music so we generally find out after the fact about our music being in films, but the most recent film our music has been used in was the movie Knocked up which featured "biggest Part Of Me" we were actually offered the theme to the movie "arthur" starring Dudley Moore you know When You Get Lost Between The Moon and New York City" Arthur's theme and we passed on it never knowing how big of a hit it was going to be later for Christopher Cross, but you know life is for learning. Some of the fun Ambrosia has been having is we do our own shows, but we're one of the few bands that can back up different artists which is always an honor to do so like recently we've been called upon to back up Michael McDonald and of course we all respect Michael, and then we've been doing some of these yacht rock type of shows which we just finished doing about two months wortth of playing and backing different artists on the tour like Stephen Bishop famous for "on and On", Peter Beckett from the group Player with their big hit "baby Come Back", Walter Eagon famous for the song "Magnet and Steel" written actually about Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac as the story goes from Walter on stage each night he wrote it as he puts it as he was smitten for the kitten, John Ford Coley who had a multitude of hits such as "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight", Elliott Laurie of Looking Glass "Brandy (You're A FIne Girl) number one hit for him, so it was fun being the host band on a tour like that cause we did our hits and then we'd bring out all of those great singers to do their material while we'd back them up playing, so we basically have our own outing with just Ambrosia and we do our show and then we have this other type of outing where it's Ambrosia and friends, we're sort of forming our own society of the seventies music, we never really got to do that back then as we all had our own careers and we might have crossed paths possibly, but we never got to collaborate and work together like this, so it's a fun outing for us and afterwords we'll sit around telling stories from the road like who was sleeping with who fun meaningless stuff like that, lots of fun and laughs. We are looking forward to coming up to the Big E, we've heard a lot of good things about it, so it will be a fun couple of days up there, and we'll get to see some of the great fall foliage hopefully while we're there as well. Make sure to check out Ambrosia at the Big E on September 18th and 19th at 3:00 p.m. on the Court of Honor stage, it's a show you won't want to miss. for more information on Ambrosia go to their website: www.ambrsialive.net and for more about the Big E go to their website for location and directions: www.thebige.com If you would like to hear the whole interview we did with Burleigh Drummond you can click on either link below from soundcloud or archive.or whichever listening preference you have of choice click below : https://archive.org/details/burleighdrummondoriginaldrummerofambrosia9122019815p.m. https://soundcloud.com/edward-wrobleski/burleigh-drummond-original-drummer-of-ambrosia-9-12-2019-815-pm

Talking Hendrix News For the Week of September 13, 2019

What's coming up this week..... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Guest This week is singer/songwriter Tom Rush see information below on Tom courtesy of John Lappen of Lappen Enterprises and publicist for the River Club Music Hall and a large array of musicians and other venues as well throughout the U.S. The River Club Music Hall is proud to present on Friday September 13 acclaimed singer/songwriter Tom Rush. Tom Rush is a gifted musician and performer, whose shows offer a musical celebration…a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are filled with the laughter of terrific story-telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues. Rush’s impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the ’60s and the renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists. James Taylor told Rolling Stone, “Tom was not only one of my early heroes, but also one of my main influences.” Country music star Garth Brooks has credited Rush with being one of his top five musical influences. Rush has long championed emerging artists. His early recordings introduced the world to the work of Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and James Taylor, and in more recent years his Club 47®concerts have brought artists such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin to wider audiences when they were just beginning to build their own reputations. Rush began his music career performing in Boston-area clubs while attending Harvard and has spent a great deal of his career performing in Boston on a regular basis. Rush is credited by Rolling Stone magazine with ushering in the era of the singer-songwriter. In addition to performing his own compositions, he sang songs by Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Murray McLauchlan, David Wiffen and William Hawkins, helping them to gain recognition early in their careers. His 1968 composition "No Regrets" has become an acknowledged standard, with numerous cover versions having been recorded (Rush did two radically different versions himself). These include The Walker Brothers, who gave Tom Rush Top Ten credit as a songwriter on the UK singles chart, Emmylou Harris, who included the song on her 1988 album Bluebird, and Midge Ure whose cover also made the UK Top Ten.
